Missa inte denna sanslösa coverversion Steve ‘n’ Seagulls – Carry On Wayward Son
Finska Steve ‘n’ Seagulls gör respektlösa men kärleksfulla bluegrass-covers av klassiska rocklåtar. Resultatet är progressiv bluegrass, som vissa kallar newgrass, det är fullt ös med dragspel, banjo, cajun, trummor, ståbas och så vidare. Klädda i jeans, overaller och bävermössor ser de ut som just nedstigna från de finländska appalacherna. Tidigare covers har varit bland andra Master of Puppets och My Sharona. Nu ligger deras fjärde album klart för släpp senare under 2020.
Bandet själva om singeln: “Carry On Wayward Son from the Kansas album Leftoverture from 1976 is a true masterpiece. Some of us know the song from our youth days and it has endured the test of time. We talked about this song in the sessions for our previous album too. But now it felt like the time was right and we found the right angle to approach this classic. Working together with our producer Timo Kämäräinen we wanted to preserve the monumental riffs, wide instrumentation and stunning harmonies of the original track. But we also wanted to give it our own spin and our kind of energy. We feel that in the end we were able to honour this kind of musical portrait of the seventies. And it is one of the cornerstones of our fourth album.”
